In 2022, he documented the destruction of his family’s orchards in a missile strike through the Palestinian non-profit project- “We Are Not Numbers”, which partners youth in Gaza with international journalists and authors who help them share their stories in English- which has been a huge inspiration for Humanize Gaza. Yousef and the organization would document martyr’s stories and pictures to share with the world…

The story “Who Will Pay For The 20 Years We Lost?” describes Yousef’s realization that while the olive, orange, clementine, loquat, guava, lemon and pomegranate trees can be replanted, the years spent tending to them cannot be replaced.

Yousef aspired to become a psychoanalyst, “We Are Not Numbers” said in a post memorializing him, and was a contributing writer for Palestine Chronicle. His last article was titled “Kidney Transplant and Rebirth: A Palestinian Love Story.”

He was killed on October 14, during an airstrike that also claimed the lives of several family members, including his father, Maher, brother, Fadi, and cousin, Malak
