Age: 27 years old
Huda was a mother of two who worked as a freelance writer and translator from Arabic to English.
She was killed in an airstrike on October 23 along with several relatives, according to We Are Not Numbers. Huda was part of a new group of young writers working with the organization on their stories.
“In the short two months that I had the privilege of knowing Huda, I quickly realized that she was a force of nature,” said a member of the organization, Ahmed Abo Rizik, on its website. “Huda’s words held the power to bridge cultures, to create understanding, and to advocate for her homeland.”
Huda wrote two pieces in 2022 which were published by Electronic Intifada: “Braving Israel’s Bombs to Hug My Parents” and “Gaza’s Queen of Quilling.”
