“The Girl in The Pink Skates”
Age: 9 years old
Martyr Date:
Tala was a beautiful young girl. She was the middle child and for most of her life, the only girl in the family, between two brothers, until her youngest sibling, a sister, was born a year ago.
Her father says his daughter was playing outside with her new roller skates that he had just gotten her when she was hit by a shrapnel from the Zionist entity airstrike.
“Those roller skates she was wearing, she begged me to get them for her. I got them for her, and it was the reason, praise be to God, for her death…” Hussam, her father says.
Tala had managed to survive 332 days of the genocide, the bombardment, hunger and uncertainty. She and her family had fled on foot from one place to another 8 times during the 332 days, sometimes in the middle of the night.
The day before she died, Hussam (the father), says his daughter told him she dreamed of becoming a dentist and going back to school. She also had 1 wish for September, and that was to celebrate her youngest brother’s 5th birthday with presents and friends to distract him from the genocide.
She was always a very curious little girl, and always wanted to tag along with her brother, Salah (12 years old). Hussam, her father, says “She was killed at the entrance of the building. As soon as I heard the airstrike I ran down stairs to look for her.”
On September 3, 2024, around 5 pm, Tala decided to follow her brother and go play outside. She headed downstairs, and as soon as she reached the ground floor, an explosion hit. Sharpnel cascaded down through the air, piercing her neck…
The girl in the pink skates loved life and wanted to be a dentist, but Israel stole her life from her.
