The martyr “Sama Barqouni,” a 16-year-old girl, was the pride of her family. She had a kind heart, good manners, and was passionate about life. She had ambitions and dreams. We would spend hours talking and envisioning the dreams we aspired to achieve together.
On December 5, the Israeli soldiers besieged their house and forced them to evacuate. They bombarded the house with several shells, causing it to catch fire.
They tried to exit the house carrying white flags to signal to the occupation forces that they were unarmed civilians. However, this treacherous enemy began firing at them, resulting in Sama being injured and martyred. The rest of her family took refuge in a nearby house to seek protection from the gunfire.
Tanks surrounded Sama’s body for five days before her family was able to bury her. Sama departed, leaving behind beautiful memories that will never be forgotten. May her soul rest in peace.
