Muhammed Abu Lahya

Martyr Date: December 31, 2023

Muhammed was a loving husband living in Gaza. His wife says:

“My husband Mohammed was a driving instructor. Positivity and acceptance were written all over his face. He was the most beloved teacher among his students. The news of his martyrdom was significant and profound, and his students were deeply saddened by it. Glory be to the One who planted his love in people’s hearts.

I got to know him while taking driving lessons, and I loved his popularity among people. In a very short period, we got married, and afterwards, Allah blessed us with Ayman. We were living happily in a home filled with warmth and affection. We were a very sweet family.

I remember vividly during my childbirth, how he was by my side and with me. I remember how he never left me for a moment. I remember his concern for me and how he used to tell me, ‘I’m by your side.’ I remember how he would recite from the Quran and say prayers for me, holding my hand. I remember how he opened his phone and searched for supplications to ease the delivery. I remember every time he stood by my side.

Mohammed had a great passion for food. He would always come at night and say, ‘You relax, you must be tired all day with Ayman, and I’ll prepare dinner.’ He would enter the kitchen and he prepares dinner.

I remember during Ramadan when I was tired because it was the final stage of my pregnancy. During suhoor time, he would wake up and prepare the pre-dawn meal. He never hesitated to wake me up. I would always say, ‘I’m lucky to have him and his tenderness.’

Mohammed was something entirely different. He was a father, a brother, a husband, a support, and a friend. I would thank Allah that I chose a father like Mohammed for my son. He was a treasure in my life.”

On December 30th, 2023, Mohammed’s wife and their son, Ayman, were given the opportunity to evacuate Gaza; unfortunately, Mohammed’s name was not on the list for evacuation. Mohammed’s wife wanted to stay, but Mohammed told her to go and stay safe with their son, Ayman, and she ultimately left.

Two hours after Mohammed’s wife arrived to Egypt, Mohammed was hit with an airstrike from the zionist entity, and was martyred. Their final farewell was at the crossing.
