This is Hajj Zaid Abu Halil. He is 66 years old. Hajj Zaid has always been vocal about peaceful protesting and would encourage the youth in Hebron to continue peacefully protesting the occupier. He was a well-known leader of his community and anti-occupation activist who had been injured on several previous occasions by Israeli forces.

On Sunday, 10/06/24, Hajj Zaid and the youth in Dura, West Bank were peacefully protesting. Israeli soldiers raided the protest and began firing tear gas and rubber bullets. Seeing this, Hajj Zaid used his self as a shield to try and block the bullets. His bravery was caught on camera as well. Hours later, the occupation raided Zaid’s home.

Hours later, the occupation raided Zaid’s home. When the occupation left Zaid’s home, he was rushed to the hospital, but declared dead on arrival. WAFA reported that he was severely beaten in his home and lost consciousness.

He was beaten to death by the occupation, for attempting to shield his neighborhood’s youth from rubber bullets.
