Zain Aroq

Martyr Date: 04/14/2024

“Zain used to come back happily and recount his adventures in obtaining small meals despite the risks he faced while collecting aid drops. A month before his martyrdom, he survived drowning when he jumped into a deep swamp to retrieve the suhoor meal to satisfy his hunger”

His father’s greatest joy in the world and his support. He was a brave and adventurous child, and he memorized the Quran. He lived a dignified life within a loving and warm family.

Earlier in the war, three months ago, Zain miraculously survived a bombing that targeted his family’s house, which claimed the lives of 16 family members, including his grandmother, uncles, and relatives.

But today, Zain has departed, and I do not absolve myself before your soul, my little one, nor do I absolve anyone! I wish you hadn’t taken a single step in pursuit of a small meal. I wish you never knew hunger or carried any worries. I wish we had borne your burden! I wish we had carried it! I wish we had died before this. By God, we have lost something significant in you, and our pain is even greater with you.

On April 14th, Zain didn’t survive. He was martyred while trying to obtain the food aid dropped by planes in the northern Gaza Strip when the aid box, the ‘parachute,’ fell on him.
