Martyr Date: 02/22/2024

“I will never forget Yahya’s last image as a martyr, his face clearly showing immense pain. It breaks my heart that Yahya suffered greatly before his martyrdom”
The martyr, “Yahya Al-Ja’bari,” was 16 years old and in high school. My mother used to call Yahya the “fruit of the house.” He loved swimming and participated in several competitions at the Ministry of Education, where he achieved second place in his last competition. He was the youngest person in the family, but he held great importance and responsibility. We relied on him in many matters. He was our pillar during the days of war and throughout our displacement. When I would get angry due to the pressure of the war, he would ease our burden because my father had been arrested by the occupying army before Yahya’s martyrdom, and to this day, he remains unaware of Yahya’s martyrdom or the arrest of my older siblings.
Yahya would prepare food for us and provide scarce water during the days of war. He would bear burdens beyond his capacity. On February 22nd, Yahya was martyred while searching for food for us in the northern Gaza Strip where food and flour were scarce.
