Ahmed returned to his homeland after an 8-year absence due to travel difficulties. He traveled to Egypt to study medicine, specializing in orthopedic surgery. He returned to Gaza on October 1st, and we welcomed him with cheers and jubilation, celebrating his arrival after years of absence.

His family’s roots trace back to Yafa, but they migrated to Gaza during the Nakba, 76 years ago. When the war broke out in Gaza, Ahmed refused to evacuate to the north or return to Egypt. He insisted on working at Al-Shifa Hospital to treat the war’s victims and wounded.

On November 10th, as he was returning from work to rest for a few hours, the Israeli occupation targeted the apartment where Ahmed resided. Ahmed, his uncle, and his cousin attained martyrdom.

The occupation stole our joy of welcoming back our brother Ahmed after years of distance and exile. Upon his return to Gaza, he envisioned a beautiful future, getting married, and practicing his profession as a doctor. However, this time he departed without being able to return…
